The gSpatial OCX control is an ActiveX control that allows you to embed GIS and mapping functionality in your own applications, written in languages such as Delphi, C++, Visual Basic and C#.

Its object model is similar to the well-known ESRI MapObjects ActiveX control, allowing developers that are familiar with the ESRI product to rapidly implement GIS functionality in their applications. Some of its capabilities are listed below:

• Standard view control functionality such as zooming and panning
• ESRI shapefile is the native binary vector format
• Display PNG, GIF, JPEG and Bitmap images
• Attach external attribute data from DBase files or from ODBC data sources
• Geocoding 
• Shortest and fastest route calculations
• Thematic queries (class breaks)
